Why Choose Us
We know you have options when choosing a surgeon and hospital for your weight loss surgery. Here’s why we think our program is a great choice:
Quality
The Bariatric Center at Crestwood Medical Center is accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.
What does this mean?
This organization has a strict set of requirements that must be met before a hospital can receive this distinct seal of approval. MBSAQIP’s rigorous review process helps ensure hospitals have all components in place to produce the best outcomes for patients.
This includes:
- Staff specially trained to treat morbidly obese patients, including surgeons, nurses, radiologists, anesthesiologists and nutritionists.
- Specialized equipment and accommodations (such as patient rooms with enlarged doorways and bathrooms) that help provide a safe and comfortable hospital stay.
- Patient experiences and outcomes that meet MBSAQIP’s high standards.
The Bariatric Center has received additional accolades from Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Aetna for meeting their quality-based criteria. Our accreditation and additional designations reflect our commitment and ability to provide high-quality bariatric care.
Credibility
Three surgeons on staff at Crestwood Medical Center specialize in bariatric procedures. As a group, they have more than 30 years of experience and have performed more than 3,000 weight-loss surgeries.

Care
We know it can be difficult to take the first step toward obtaining weight-loss surgery. We'll do everything possible to help you feel supported and encouraged before, during and after your procedure:
- We offer a free bariatric webinar several times a month. This is a “no strings attached” opportunity where you can learn more about the process and evaluate the options available. During the webinar, one of the surgeons explains the various procedures offered, including the advantages and disadvantages of each, and participants are encouraged to ask questions.
- Your surgeon and his staff will guide you through the process for preparing for surgery. A medical assistant will help to schedule any additional appointments required by your insurance.
- The bariatric nurse coordinator will meet with you after surgery to prepare you for discharge and help plan your recovery. Your diet, supplements, activity and lifestyle changes will all be reviewed. The coordinator will also call to check on you after surgery to evaluate your progress, and will be available by phone throughout your recovery to answer any questions you may have.
- We also urge you to attend our monthly support group meetings where you will gain insights from other participants and receive encouragement as you work to achieve your weight-loss goals.
We look forward to supporting you on this journey.
