Wanda Wilson Receives Crestwood Medical Center's Nursing Excellence Award

Huntsville, AL – Crestwood Medical Center today announced that Wanda Wilson, RN, has been selected to receive its Nursing Excellence Award.
This peer-nominated award recognizes the critical role nurses have played in treating patients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and is open to qualifying RNs and LPNs working in a direct patient care position who consistently demonstrate characteristics synonymous with nursing excellence.
Wanda was chosen from among nominations across the organization for her outstanding care of patients in Emergency Services. Working tirelessly in the ER, she has demonstrated leadership in combination with her natural ability to create healing relationships with patients and their families by deliberately connecting with them in such a manner as to provide compassionate care for both. Wanda is a leader in the ER and has proven to be an invaluable resource for the entire team and throughout the hospital. She is an outstanding teacher and is always willing to share her expertise with her fellow staff members.
During her more than 12 years at Crestwood, Wanda has received many heartfelt comments from patients and their families as well as from her peers. “Wanda provides excellent care to her patients, often going the extra mile to make sure the patient and their families are comfortable and secure. While there are many deserving nurses, Wanda is a consistent compassionate nurse; it is seen in all her interactions – from really explaining complicated tests to family members to how she rounds and actually connects with her patients and their families. It is hard to pick one thing when it is the thousands of little things that make Wanda such a compassionate nurse. It’s in her demeanor and on her face with very interaction,” remarks the peer nominator.

Nurses who deliver exemplary care, compassion and service, who understand the importance of teamwork and mentoring others, who can lead in times of crises, and who are true champions of promoting healthcare in our community,” said Dr. Pam Hudson, Chief Executive Officer of Crestwood Medical Center. “With so much focus these past two years on the selfless efforts of front line heroes like Wanda, we are pleased to acknowledge the important contributions our nursing professionals provide to our community.”
