Huntsville, AL – Crestwood Medical Center is happy to report 5,864 jars of nut butter were collected during its annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive, benefitting the Food Bank of North Alabama.
Employees, physicians and community members supported the effort to fight hunger in the local area.
“I’m proud of the work that our team does every day to support our patients, but also proud of how we support our community,” said Justin Serrano, CEO, Crestwood Medical Center. “Food security is a social determinant of health which has a profound impact on overall health and well-being. Having access to this staple pantry item will help the Food Bank of North Alabama reduce hunger in our area.”
Peanut butter is a sought after item for food banks because of its high nutritional value and long shelf life. Yet, it is one of the least donated items.
