Now Open: Crestwood Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine
1/17/2014
Crestwood Wound & Hyperbaric Medicine is now open and is accepting new patients. The clinic offers patients access to the latest outpatient clinical wound care and hyperbaric medicine, using a variety of clinical treatments, therapies and support services to treat chronic wounds.
More than 8 million people in the U.S. suffer from chronic wounds of which healing has been impeded by such diseases and conditions as diabetes, obesity, aging and the late effects of radiation therapy.
“The causes of wounds are complex, and our group represents expertise in all of the major areas necessary to handle varied circumstances and challenges,” says Dr. Scott Parker, Medical Director. A patient’s individualized treatment plan may include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure therapies, bioengineered tissues and biosynthetics. Multi-disciplinary approaches to outpatient wound care have a high success rate in facilitating the healing process.
Likely candidates for treatment at the new center are those suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, radiation injuries to soft tissue and bone, compromised skin grafts and flaps, and wounds that haven't healed within 30 days.
Most treatments are covered by Medicare/Medicaid, HMOs, and other private insurance plans. Physicians generally refer patients for specialized wound care, but patients may also make an appointment directly.
Crestwood Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine is a member of the Healogics™ network, which employs a rigorous scientific approach to explore, test, find and develop the clinically proven methods and technologies which reintroduce the body's innate ability to heal. The network comprised of academic medical centers, hospitals and thousands of professionals is committed to advancing wound healing by creating, sharing, and activating wound prevention and care expertise.
