Crestwood OB/GYN Welcomes Certified Nurse Midwife

Sam Wall Certified Nurse Midwife

Women in North Alabama have a new option for compassionate, personalized care at every stage of life. Crestwood OB/GYN is pleased to welcome Sam Wall, MSN, APRN, CNM, a certified nurse midwife dedicated to helping women achieve their health goals through expert, evidence-based care.

Wall brings more than 18 years of women’s healthcare experience to Crestwood Medical Center. She has practiced as a certified nurse midwife for the past three years and spent 15 years as a labor and delivery nurse before advancing her career.

“My passion has always been caring for women,” said Wall. “As a labor and delivery nurse, I was there for one of the most important days of a family’s life, but I wanted to do more. I wanted the opportunity to build relationships with women throughout their pregnancy and beyond, getting to know who they are and supporting them through every stage of life.”

Wall began her nursing career at Spartanburg Regional in South Carolina before moving to Huntsville in 2009. She worked in Labor and Delivery at Huntsville Hospital, where she also served as a simulation lab educator, training nurses in neonatal resuscitation and preparing care teams for obstetric emergencies.

More Than Pregnancy Care

While many people think of midwives as providers who deliver babies, certified nurse midwives offer comprehensive healthcare for women from adolescence through menopause.

As advanced practice registered nurses with specialized graduate education in women’s health and maternity care, certified nurse midwives provide preventive care, routine gynecologic services and care during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.

At Crestwood OB/GYN, Wall provides:

  • Annual well-woman exams
  • Preventive health screenings
  • Birth control counseling and family planning
  • Pregnancy care for low-risk pregnancies
  • Labor and delivery support
  • Postpartum care
  • Menopause management
  • Health education and wellness counseling

“Every woman deserves a healthcare provider who listens, educates and partners with her throughout life’s journey,” said Wall. “Whether someone is planning a family, expecting a baby or simply looking for routine women’s healthcare, I’m committed to providing personalized care that helps each patient feel informed, supported and empowered.”

At Crestwood OB/GYN, Wall provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Annual well-woman exams
  • Preventive health screenings
  • Birth control counseling and family planning
  • Pregnancy care for low-risk pregnancies
  • Labor and delivery support
  • Postpartum care
  • Menopause management
  • Health education and wellness counseling

Why Choose a Certified Nurse Midwife?

Many women choose a certified nurse midwife because of the personalized approach to care. Midwives often spend additional time educating patients, answering questions and developing care plans that reflect each woman’s individual needs and preferences.

For healthy, low-risk pregnancies, certified nurse midwives provide comprehensive prenatal care, support women throughout labor and delivery and continue caring for both mother and baby after birth. They work closely with obstetricians and other specialists, ensuring patients have seamless access to physician expertise whenever higher-risk or more complex care is needed.
